The Reparations Subcommittee will focus on assisting campaigns demanding institutional reparations. A number of colleges and universities were founded and supported by the slave economy, and others helped fund racial segregation policies, supported acts of forced removal, and/or exploited a low-wage workforce from campus greens to prison cells. These race-based practices, both during the era of slavery and throughout the twentieth century, have helped stabilize and many times increase the prosperity of colleges and universities.
