The immigration sub-group will focus on the ways that immigration restriction and enforcement policies impact the lives of immigrants in the U.S., acting as mechanisms of violence, control, detention and displacement. We also will seek to explain relationship between U.S. policies and global migration, the reasons behind increasing rates of detention and deportation of immigrants (and the relationship between these practices and the carceral state), the impact these practices have on the lives of our undocumented sisters and brothers, and the strategies and projects of community resistance that seek to alter these conditions.
